Made a wee mistake today and went to Kilmore instead of Airth.
The weather was awright a bit coool for this time of year but no rain so it was fine to compete in. We did two putts, two hammers, 56 for dist and height caber and sheaf.

Inverness Games Day 2 of the Worlds
Caithness games were cancelled so went to Inverness for day 2 Sunday....
It was overcast and pretty cool for a supposed Summer's day but at least it was not raining in fact the rain held off for most of the day but typical highland games curse weather it starts just as the Caber is about to begin making it all wet and slippery.
Started off with the heavy hammer a win for Bruce Aitken 114' 7", 2nd Larry Brock 111' 3 3/4", 3rd Gregor Edmunds 109 4 3/4", 4th Sean Betz 105' 10 1/2" and 5th Ryan Vierra 105' 6 1/2".
Next the 28lb weight for Distance, a good win for Bruce Robb with 80' 4" with Gregor and Kyrylo tying for 2nd with exactly the same distance of 80' 2 3/4" 4th was Larry Brock 80' 1 3/4" and 5th Sean Betz 78' 10 3/4"
Only 2 events to go and the points looked like this
Ryan Vierra 21
Gregor Edmunds 21 1/2
Larry Brock 26
Sean Betz 30
Bruce Robb 36
Kyrylo Chuprinin 36 1/2
Bruce Aitken 41
Scott Ryder 43
Harrison Bailey 45
David Barron 48
Greg Hadley 56
Wout Zjilstra 63
56 WOB was the next event and the height started at 13 feet, David Webster said unlucky for some but everyone cleared it. The bar went to 14 and all were clear again, some just. Rising to 15 feet would surely diminish the athletes competing in this event - Harrison B, Greg H, Scott R, Bruce A and Ryan Vierra could not reach the height.
The bar was raised to 16 feet this height lost Larry B, Sean B and Gregor E.
4 athletes had cleared 16 feet -
David Barron
Bruce Robb
Kyrylo Chuprinin
and the current world record holder in the 56 wfh Wout Zjilstra
Wout and Kyrylo asked for the height to be raised to 17 feet. Dave Barron took one attempt and retired from the event, all the others failed first attempt too, they also failed 2nd attempts at 17 feet, first up for 3rd and final attempt was Kyrylo, he could not quite get the weight over although it was close, Wout was next and snuck the weight over the bar but the weight pulled the bar so violently that is fell off, hard luck Wout, next up was Bruce Robb final attempt and final throw of the day at the 56, he thrwe it up and cleared the bar it skiffed the bar and all went silent in the crowd for a few seconds until the quivering bar steadied and stayed there, he had cleared 17 feet, what a tremendous feat :-)
The final result was
Bruce Robb 17'
Wout Zjilstra 16'
Kyrylo Chuprinin 16'
David Barron 16'
Larry Brock 15'
Sean Betz 15'
Gregor Edmunds 15'
The rest at 14'
The results with only the caber now looked:-
Gregor 27 1/2
Ryan 31
Larry 32
Sean 36
Bruce R 37
Kyrylo 39 1/2
Bruce A 51

One event to decide who was going to be crowned World Champion 2007 the CABER
It was a nice stick looked about 21 feet and very solid, would not like to guess the weight but it looked very heavy!!!
It had started raining which I think may have affected the result but it was raining for everyone I suppose! The order of merit for the caber went like this
Kyrylo
Gregor
Wout
Bruce R
Ryan
Scott
Larry
David
Greg
Harrison
Sean
Bruce A
Adding this to the previous totals gave this result
1st and new champion Gregor Edmunds 29 1/2
2nd Ryan Vierra 36
3rd Larry Brock 39
4th Kyrylo Chuprinin 40 1/2
5th Bruce Robb 41
